Today’s prompt for free-ranging creativity:
Find a comfortable position. Sitting. Standing. Laying. Whatever.
Gather a pen and pencil, a voice recorder, or any method of writing that feels right and is not attached to social media/communication.
Turn off your phone and put it away for the duration of this exercise (or set a timer on your phone and put it in airplane mode in another room).
Set a timer for 20 minutes.
This will take 20 minutes.
For a moment, let yourself be flooded with everything that’s expected of you. Who you are expected to be in your life. Who you show up as. What you carry with you. Your limitations and dreams.
Then, imagine gathering all of those things into a burlap bag. Gather them up in your arms and place them one by one into the bag. Let the bag get as big as it needs to be. It can be planet-sized. Once you’ve gathered everything, set it aside somewhere safe. It’s all there, but you no longer have to worry about it.
Imagine your life without all of those things. Imagine yourself without those things.
