Prompt:
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Imagine the safest place you have ever been. Set a time for five minutes and write about what it felt like there. Then, take five minutes to write your vision for a safer, more sane world, and what that would look like.
(don’t like this prompt? write whatever you’d like for ten minutes)
quote
“When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.” -Wendell Berry

question
It’s Monday. Take a moment to ask yourself: what’s one non-negotiable writing goal for me this week? Tell me in the comments.
My non-negotiable writing goal is to start a new narrative nonfiction piece that’s been brewing in my soul for many months. Starting a new piece feels daunting, especially because so much is being demanded of me and my time, but I must prioritize my creative work, or I’ll never prioritize my creative work.
Hi Jan,
no new post from you since this last one. (noticed it as I was navigating through my inbox)
Anyway being connected to our art out of the screens is always a good thing. :)
Hope everything's ok and that you're just busy with your book and courses.
Publishing my substack on Wednesday which means finishing it!!
