This email is one of many; a compilation of recommendations via Twitter. This first one was written on Mother’s Day, and is just being sent now.
It’s Mother’s Day. For me, this is typically the hardest day of the year. Twelve years ago today I arrived at my mother’s house in the Leschi neighborhood of Seattle. The day before, my mother had taken her own life. It is a long story. You can read my last Mother’s Day post by clicking below.
A couple weeks ago I sent out a tweet asking for recommendations for memoirs about difficult relationships with mothers. Every once in a while when I ask a question on Twitter I am given the gift of many, many answers, and this was one of those times.
I’ve compiled the answers to that tweet below, both on the newsletter and in a Google Doc which is only viewable with the link I share. The content below is paywalled because it took a lot of time for me to compile the answers along with links to books and authors. Please consider becoming a paying subscriber so you can access this and many other resources I’ve shared and will be sharing, and to support this newsletter! Otherwise, you can go to the tweet and find everything you need.
Also, if you can’t afford a subscription just message me and I’ll comp you one.
